New Build Home – Isle of Wight

We were employed to take this project that had planning approval through technical design and to construction on site.

The challenging site is on a steep slope. The design consists of a basement concrete structure to form the lower ground floor. A timber frame structure sits above to create the first floor and roof. The facades and roof are clad in a modern standing-seam zinc to create a striking modern home. Large areas of glazing ensure maximum amounts of daylight enter the building. Whilst bi-folding doors open the living space up to the first floor south facing roof terrace. A large central rooflight over a feature staircase creates a focal point for the dwelling. A perforated aluminium sail to the front elevation was a concept that we developed into an architectural feature based on a piece of artwork that was chosen by the client. Energy efficiency is one of the key design drivers for the scheme, the project features PV panels, high performance thermal insulation and maximises natural daylight. The project is currently on site.

Client Feedback:

‘We were really pleased with the planning design but Alex has taken this further and produced a brilliant finished product. His fantastic attention to detail has ensured that the original concept has been delivered as intended.’
